Thanks to BVEF funding and YOUR man-hours, the art docent program runs throughout the year at both Yulupa and Strawberry schools. Each class enjoys 2-3 art docent lessons utilizing various media including clay, paper, acrylic and watercolor paint, and more, all coordinated with grade level studies. The kids love the opportunity to learn art techniques from their parents, and the docent parents love the chance to interact with the kids in such a creative way. Teacher are always eager to get parents involved in the art docent program, so if you are interested in helping with a lesson, please let your child’s teacher know.
To make it as easy as possible for you to prepare for art docent lessons, we have a master schedule on this site (so you can check when you are signed up to help), and we have the lesson plans and videos available so that you can easily review the lesson ahead of time. Each January we also hold a training event where you are a “student” of the lessons that you will be teaching. It is a great way to familiarize yourself with the lessons.
Below are links to the lesson plans and videos, and to the docent schedules for this year.
