Each classroom will participate in an 18 week series of fun, interactive music classes that will introduce students to a variety of musical styles and rhythmic concepts while singing, playing various instruments and learning music fundamentals. This music class is a standards-based, grade-appropriate course of study that the students will enjoy!
The instructor, Steve Steinberg, is an experienced music teacher and musician. Mr. Steinberg has taught elementary and secondary music, band, orchestra and general music (including singing, drumming, recorders, ukuleles, etc.) in the Bay Area and San Diego for many years. Most recently, Mr. Steinberg was teaching general music for the Novato Unified School District, but he is thrilled to be the new music teacher for the Bennett Valley School District. Mr. Steinberg is also an active professional musician, playing saxophone and other woodwinds in local bands (Pride and Joy, Narada Michael Walden, Tommy Igoe, Pacific Mambo Orchestra, All Star Jukebox, the Soul Section and others); Broadway SF shows such as, Beetlejuice, Tina, MJ: the Musical, Mrs. Doubtfire, etc. He has also played with the O’Jays, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations, The Four Tops, and many others!
Mr. Steinberg plays and teaches music because 1) He loves it. 2) Music is fun. 3) He is good at it because he has worked at it. 4) He enjoys sharing that love, joy, enthusiasm and knowledge for music with students!
