Dance At Yulupa Elementary
Every Yulupa Elementary student participates in our dance program. Each class begins with a movement warm-up that incorporates some strength work and stretching. The bulk of each class involves across-the-floor movement and a dance routine that the students work on for 3-4 weeks. Students also play a variety of movement games and are introduced to many different dance styles including hip hop, rap, and jazz.
Dance gives students a form of expression that doesn’t depend on words. Working on a routine over several weeks builds focus and physical confidence, and learning it alongside classmates means the whole class succeeds or struggles together — a different kind of collaboration than most of the school day asks for. Students also get regular, structured movement in an era when school schedules generally offer less and less of it.
Meet Danielle Maca
My name is Danielle Maca and I have been in the dance community for almost my whole life. I started dancing at the age of 3 and trained through high school. I began teaching hip hop, jazz, and contemporary dance at the age of 23.
I have been an instructor at The Dance Center for 16 years and have loved it so much. I was the Director of The Dance Center’s contemporary competitive team from 2021-2025 which allowed me to train elite dancers and take them to competitions throughout our season. Currently, I am teaching Acro and Company skills.
I started teaching dance at Yulupa in 2023. Movement will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope to continue in this field for many years to come.
