Theater At Strawberry Elementary
Every Strawberry Elementary student participates in our Theater Program. The curriculum consists of an audition process, learning/memorizing scripts, staging, costuming, dancing, and a focus on bringing each character to life. In addition to performing, each cohort will assemble a set design crew who creates our backdrops and props.
Theater asks students to stand in front of people and be heard — a skill that transfers well beyond the stage. Our Strawberry Theater Program builds comfort with public speaking that many adults never develop. Playing a character also requires imagining someone else’s perspective, and the students who work on sets, props, and backdrops learn that a production also depends on people who don’t top the playbill.
Meet Danielle Maca
My name is Danielle Maca and I have been in the dance community for almost my whole life. I started dancing at the age of 3 and trained through high school. I began teaching hip hop, jazz, and contemporary dance at the age of 23.
I came to theater in 2024, when I started teaching the program at Strawberry. Dance and theater aren’t the same discipline, but both ask a performer to be comfortable in front of an audience — and I’ve found it especially rewarding to watch Strawberry students step into that.
