Fall 2021 Band/Chorus Enrollment

To all interested students and parents of incoming 4th through 6th graders at Strawberry School: Please read carefully.

The Bennett Valley Union School District music program, sponsored by the Bennett Valley Education Foundation, is open for registration for the 2021-2022 school year.

We don’t know yet if we will be able to start with in-person lessons or with online lessons, as we are waiting for updated guidance from the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) and CalOSHA for the 2021-22 school year, but either way BVUSD and BVEF are 100% committed to bringing Strawberry students our fantastic music program! (Both band and chorus lessons have successfully taken place throughout the 2020-21 school year in a fully online format, complete with virtual concerts.)

2021-2022 Schedule

Practice times and days for Beginner and Advanced Bands have not yet been finalized for fall 2021. Final days and times of practices will be announced later by BVUSD and/or band instructor Sara Williams.

The Strawberry Gleeagles Chorus meets one hour a week after school throughout the school year. Practice day and time has not yet been finalized for fall 2021. Final days and times of practices will be announced later by BVUSD and/or Gleeagles Director Marla Tusa.

Option #1: FIRST YEAR BAND AND ADVANCED BAND:

The First Year and Advanced Band early registration donation request is $225 if you provide your own instrument

The First Year and Advanced Band early registration donation request is $225 + $60 = $285 if you borrow the district’s instrument and as a contribution to the cost of cleaning, adjusting, and repairing of school instruments.

The cost of any caps, t-shirts, etc. for the annual parade appearance are not included in this donation request.

Option #2: CHORUS “THE STRAWBERRY GLEEAGLES” :

The Chorus early registration donation request is $125.

Option #3: CHORUS AND FIRST YEAR OR ADVANCED BAND TOGETHER:

The combined Chorus and Band early registration donation request is $350 (with own instrument) or $410 (with district instrument).

Special Consideration:  Families whose children receive free/reduced lunches and others who have extraordinary economic situations are asked to make note of their special consideration situation request on the enrollment form.

Distribution of District Instruments:

If a student has his/her own instrument, they will be ready to go once registration is complete. If an instrument is needed, the District has over sixty instruments available for loan for the year. Distribution of district-owned instruments is determined on a first-come, first-served basis to registered students. Please return the attached form, your full donation for the program and the instrument use to the school office where it will be marked with a priority number based upon the order received. If we run out of the particular instrument your child prefers, you may rent or purchase an instrument elsewhere, borrow one from a relative, or your child may select a different instrument from those district-owned instruments still available. The instrument maintenance and cleaning donation is for district-owned instruments which we loan to students. (Any costs of additional repairs beyond normal maintenance which may be needed due to negligence will be charged to the parents.)  If your child chooses to play trombone or baritone, the instrument donation will not be requested (unless the child changes instruments after beginning).

Instruments will be checked out by the band instructor at the beginning of the school year—dates and times to be announced after school has begun.

We think you will agree that the lessons with our instructors are worth more than the modest cost of the donation request!
