To all interested students and parents of incoming 4th through 6th graders at Strawberry School: Please read carefully.
The Bennett Valley Union School District music program, sponsored by the Bennett Valley Education Foundation, is offering registration for the 2020-2021 school year.
Band and chorus lessons will be offered on online platforms during distance learning — for more information on online delivery, please contact Strawberry Principal Josh Wilson at Josh.firstname.lastname@example.org
Historically during “traditional” learning, advanced Band usually meets at 7:05 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in the fall First Year Band meets at 7:05 AM on either Monday, Wednesday or Friday, depending on your student’s instrument section. Final days and times of practices will be announced for Advanced Band and First Year Band players (by instrument) at the beginning of the school year via the “Golden Ticket” sent home in Friday folders from Mr. Passarell, the band instructor. All band practices take place in Room 6.
Historically during “traditional” learning, the Strawberry Gleeagles Chorus meets at 2:50 PM on Wednesdays right after school in Room 6 throughout the school year.
Option #1: FIRST YEAR BAND AND ADVANCED BAND:
The First Year and Advanced Band early registration donation request is $225 if you provide your own instrument
The First Year and Advanced Band early registration donation request is $225 + $60 = $285 if you borrow the district’s instrument and as a contribution to the cost of cleaning, adjusting, and repairing of school instruments.
The cost of any caps, t-shirts, etc. for the annual parade appearance are not included in this donation request.
Option #2: CHORUS “THE STRAWBERRY GLEEAGLES” :
The Chorus early registration donation request is $125.
Option #3: CHORUS AND FIRST YEAR OR ADVANCE BAND TOGETHER:
The combined Chorus and Band early registration donation request is $350 (with own instrument) or $410 (with district instrument).
Distribution of District Instruments:
If a student has his/her own instrument, they will be ready to go once registration is complete. If an instrument is needed, the District has over sixty instruments available for loan for the year. Distribution of district-owned instruments is determined on a first-come, first-served basis to registered students. Please return the attached form, your full donation for the program and the instrument use to the school office where it will be marked with a priority number based upon the order received. If we run out of the particular instrument your child prefers, you may rent or purchase an instrument elsewhere, borrow one from a relative, or your child may select a different instrument from those district-owned instruments still available. The instrument maintenance and cleaning donation is for district-owned instruments which we loan to students. (Any costs of additional repairs beyond normal maintenance which may be needed due to negligence will be charged to the parents.) If your child chooses to play trombone or baritone, the instrument donation will not be requested (unless the child changes instruments after beginning).
Instruments will be checked out by the band instructor, Mr. Passarell, from the Multi-Purpose Room stage at the beginning of the school year—dates and times to be announced after school has begun.
We think you will agree that the lessons with our instructors are worth more than the modest cost of the donation request!
Special Consideration: Families whose children receive free/reduced lunches and others who have extraordinary economic situations are asked to make note of their special consideration situation request on the attached enrollment form.
